DESCRIPTION: Red Bull Team ABT created one of the most dramatic stories of the 2026 Nürburgring 24 Hours. The #84 Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2, driven by Luca Engstler, Mirko Bortolotti and Patric Niederhauser, showed outstanding speed from the very beginning. The car carried the Red Bull livery with start number 84, a reference to Red Bull’s founding year, 1984, and formed part of ABT’s 13th Nürburgring 24 Hours campaign with Lamborghini. On track, the pace was undeniable. The #84 Lamborghini was one of the defining cars of the race, taking Lamborghini’s first pole position at the Nürburgring 24 Hours and later setting the fastest race lap with a 8:08.758. After 24 hours, Red Bull Team ABT crossed the line in P2 overall, turning the event into what looked like a major breakthrough result for ABT, Lamborghini and Red Bull at the Nordschleife. But the story changed almost one month later. During post-race technical checks, the #84 Lamborghini was found to have excessive power output outside the allowed Balance of Performance tolerance. The stewards retrospectively disqualified the car on 12 June 2026, removing its second place from the final classification. The result became official after ABT decided not to appeal. With a best lap of 8:08.758 and an average speed of 164.083 kph, the final classification does not erase how fast this car was during the race. But it also makes the #84 Red Bull Team ABT Lamborghini one of the most controversial stories of the 2026 Nürburgring 24 Hours: a car that looked strong enough for the podium, only to lose everything after the chequered flag.
